100 Years of God’s Faithfulness

What a weekend!

On October 3–4, 2026, Great Bend First Church of the Nazarene gathered to celebrate 100 years of God’s faithfulness. For an entire century, God has used this church to change lives, build families, serve our community, and share the hope of Jesus.

Our Centennial Celebration was filled with so many special moments.

Saturday’s Block Party brought generations together for food, fellowship, laughter, music, activities, and memories. We were especially honored to recognize Tom Boese and Debbie Brown as part of the celebration and to welcome so many former members, friends, and guests back to GB Naz.

On Sunday morning, our church family gathered for a beautiful time of worship, remembrance, communion, and gratitude. We were honored to welcome Dr. David Busic, General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene; Kansas District Superintendent Kendall Franklin; along with honored guests, longtime members, and friends who have been part of the GB Naz story.

The service also included a meaningful time of Communion led by Dr. Ed Nash.

Throughout the weekend, one thing became very clear: the story of Great Bend First Church of the Nazarene has never simply been about a building or a date on a calendar. It is about people.

It is the story of children who grew up in these halls, families who found a church home here, people who answered God’s call to ministry, friendships formed across generations, prayers answered, lives changed, and countless ordinary acts of faithfulness that became part of something much bigger.

As part of our Centennial, we also collected stories from people whose lives have been touched by GB Naz. Those memories will continue to help preserve the story of our church for generations to come.

Our new history display reminds us where God has brought us from, but our celebration was never intended to be only about looking backward.

One hundred years is a milestone, not a finish line.

We are deeply thankful for those who came before us and faithfully built the foundation we stand on today. Now it is our turn to continue the story.

As we begin our next century together, our prayer remains:

Rooted in Faith. Growing in Hope. Serving in Love.

Thank you to every person who planned, volunteered, served, cooked, decorated, welcomed guests, shared a story, attended, prayed, and helped make our 100th Anniversary Celebration so meaningful.

Most of all, we give thanks to God for His faithfulness through every generation.
